February Mystery Knit Along:  Come join HTYE first Mystery KAL (Knit-A-Long). Receive 1 clue each week via email, and at the end of Week 6 bring in your finished project for a Show and Tell.


Winter Resolution - Just finish that project: Weave in all your ends to those projects that have finally been finished. Are you sure where to start, or are you having a hard time not making it look like it just came out of the homemade oops drawer. Annelie knows all too well how to make your hand knit gloves look like they were made for a fashion show floor and feel like a star who bares them. We'll review the basics for the beginner and dive into any advanced questions the seasoned Raveler may bring. Knit One Below:   Saturday, February 13 ~ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm ~ $30.
"Knit One Below" has been an overlooked method of knitting, using 2 colors without having to strand any yarn along the back. The fabric is equally attractive on both sides making it suitable for scarves and vests. In class, we will work on a scarf while introducing you to the in and outs of K1b. Starting with a swatch in class, you will end with a beautiful Knit One Below technique scarf which is gorgeous and has different patterns on each side. This unique stitch know as "k1b" (knit 1 below); the technique involves knitting into the stitch one row below the stitch on the needle with either a knit or purl stitch. The result is an easy-to-knit fabric with wonderful drape and flexibility that looks equally good on both sides. The color effects possible are endless.

Knit Along Aran Afghan: Saturday, February 20 ~ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
The Great American Aran Afghan is a great sampler of stitches created by knitters across the country. Whether you do a pillow, a lap robe or an afghan large or small, you get to knit stitch patterns you always admired, but thought they were too much for you to handle for a whole sweater. You can pick and choose the squares you want to explore. The afghan squares can be made all in one color or choose different colors to suit your taste.

Annelie will quickly move through all the steps involved in making a traditional cuff to toe sock, using double point needles, socks on two circulars, or you may venture into the enchanting magic loop method as you wish. Mini Mochi Entrelac Projects  Saturday, March 6 & 20 ~ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm ~ $45
Using the Entrelac technique creates a textured diamond square that resembles a woven-strip basket. fingerless gloves, hats, scarves, shrugs, and fabulous felted bags can all utilize the Entrelac method.  Especially when a variegated or self-striping yarn is used for Entrelac simplicity or a multitude of colors to create your own work of art.   Violà, magnifique!

Infinity Scarf: Saturday, March 13 ~ 1:30 am -3:30 pm
Everybody has to experience the mystery of an Infinity scarf or otherwise known as the Magic of Moebius. All it took was a German Mathematician and the simple half-twist was born. Once you mastered the cast-on, you are on your way. Let Annelie walk you through the basics of making this quick infinity scarf.


Your Secret Stash:   Saturday, March 13 ~ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm ~ $30
No, I am not talking about your yarn. I am referring to the bag or bags of unfinished projects, that you are stuck on, got lost in the pattern, the sizing is wrong or anything else that made you stop knitting on the project. Bring in your project(s) to be evaluated and we will get you on your way to finish what you started.

Knitting with Beads:  Saturday, March 20 ~ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm ~ $45.
The practice project will be an ipod pouch or a little bag. Let us introduce how to add beads to a project. Whether you want to add a few beads on the edge of a scarf or add some sparkle to a sweater, you will have a better understanding of how to go about it. It is not as hard as you think. Basic knitting knowledge required, dp ndl or working with 2 circ. ndls skills helpful. Pattern supplied.

With the help of Unpatterns™, knitters can design their own basic garments with any yarn they choose, knit at their own gauge, and to their own size specifications. In this workshop, we introduce the basics of Unpatterns™, and walk them through the shaping details of garments worked from the bottom up (Vest, Sleeveless Shell, Simple Sweater), or from the top down (Top Down Sweaters - pullovers and cardigans). http://www.2ndesign.com/about-unpatterns/
Pre-requisite: Intermediate knitter. Must have completed 2-3 sweaters, and know basic shaping procedures.

Fair Isle:  Knitting has a long history of combining more than one yarn to create an abundance of color throughout your garment.  Learn the proper technique of carrying, also called stranding, the yarns across as you knit.  While learning this multicolor technique you will also learn pattern and chart reading.

First Steps to Your First Top Down Sweater:  Saturday, April 17 & May 1 ~ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm ~ $45. Seamless Top Down sweaters begin at the neck and progress magically before our eyes. Intermediate knitters will find comfort and inspiration as they knit a child's sweater to learn the technique. .


Basic knitting knowledge required.

Know Your Heels:  Saturday, May 1 & 15 ~ 2:30 - 4:30 pm ~ $45
When making socks, the heels are a necessary evil. But we can sure add a little variety into making them. Whether you work from the toe up or top down, we introduce you to some other techniques to knit the heel. let's explore them together. Basic knitting knowledge required. DP needles, 2 circulars, or magic loop knowledge helpful.


Pattern"Ease":  Saturday, May 15 ~ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm ~ $45.
If you are following a pattern for the first time, this is the class for you. After learning and mastering the basic skills and one more scarf is not a very exciting prospect, you are ready for a more advanced project. Together, we will take the mysteries out of some topics, such as: reading a pattern, learning how to measure your size, realizing the importance of gauge and how to make a gauge, and explaining the most common abbreviations that you won't find in a book. While working on a small preemie size sweater there will be many secret of the trade will be exposed. Pattern is supplied. Basic knitting knowledge required.
